Characteristics of pyrophyllite

The characteristics of pyrophyllite are similar to talc in appearance, and many physical properties are similar to talc. Natural whiteness 25°~90°, loss on ignition 4%~6%, refractoriness up to 1690°C, hardness of Mohs 1~2, density (specific gravity) 2.8~2.9


The use of pyrophyllite
1. Used as a refractory

Pyrophyllite contains silicon dioxide and aluminum oxide. It does not melt when heated. It is a raw material for manufacturing aluminum silicate refractory materials. Its essential requirements limit iron oxide content. Generally, aluminum oxide (Al2O3) ≥ 24%, (Fe2O3) 1670ºC.

2. Used as ceramic raw material
Pyrophyllite can be used for daily ceramics and architectural ceramics.
